Top 3 health tips for 2018
Are you looking to make some healthy changes that you can actually stick to all year round? I’ve put together 3 key health tips for this year.
Only eat real food!
This is a solid rule to follow to ensure you eat actual food, rather than chemical-filled food products, but if time and convenience are key factors in your supermarket shop decisions, a more realistic plan may be to follow the front of Package (FOP) labelling process which is also known as the traffic light system. I recommend that you learn to understand the levels of sugars, fat, saturates and salt that falls into the 3 categories.
Get your daily amount of sleep:
According to recent research, its said that we need between 7 – 9 hours of sleep per night. Back in the day, this was the norm, but in these work-hard, play-hard times, this is no longer the case. In a recent study, one third of those surveyed only got 5 or 6 hours sleep a night. This can really have an impact on your health, from difficulty concentrating and to more serious health issues. A lack of sleep and disturbed sleep has actually been linked to a 48 percent greater chance of dying from heart disease and a 15 percent greater chance of developing or dying from a stroke! So make sure you get your beauty sleep!
Look after your Teeth:
This again comes back to eating healthy! While we may think we look after our teeth and gums, research shows that very few of us are actually getting it right. Did you know only 42% of adults use a toothbrush and toothpaste for their oral care? One in ten adults admitted they regularly forget to brush their teeth. If you have issues with your teeth it may not just be your selfies that suffer. Get booked in with your dentist for regular check-ups.
